Aim higher
Raise the bar and watch yourself soar.
Overachieving isn’t the same as doing too much.
Are you afraid of being too good? You might disagree at first. But hear me out. I know people who are afraid of asking for more money because they think their client or HR will figure out they're a fraud and kick them out the building.
It's a version of imposter syndrome. We say "I want more money" but then wonder internally "Am I worth it?"
I read a study earlier this year that said its the people who feel imposter syndrome that are far from imposters. It's the folks who don't feel imposter syndrome that are the actual imposters — the ones who are putting on a show to appear one way, but are in fact hiding who they really are. It's healthy to question your personal ability.
If you want to do more than you are currently doing, you must believe that you can. You must believe that when the opportunity comes, you are in the best possible position to do well. And you will do well. Think of this way: You're able to read this email right now simply because you have persisted.
And so even though you've been through some trials and challenges. Even though you've failed and fallen. Even though you have been through crazy, tumultuous times that tried to take you out — look at you now.
Try overachieving. This isn't about greed, power or doing to much for little reward. This is about courageously going after everything you deserve.
